Orkids On Wheels, is a purely pro bono initiative of Orkids Foundation, India. Amongst its various community service outreach projects Orkids On Wheels stands out as it is fulfilling a tremendous need at the grassroot level in the Indian inclusive education landscape. Orkids On Wheels is founded on the age-old principal of mobile centers and caters to educate (teach) the disabled children studying in the schools for the underprivileged. One mobile unit (an Eeco van) equipped with the remedial teaching aids and a special educator goes from school to school, working with children who have no other means of getting educated or learning due to scarcity of both manpower and material power. Starting in the year 2015 with one educator and 1 school, it now caters to 25 such schools for the underprivileged. During Covid the service continued with those children whose parents had mobile phones. The aim is reaching out to a minimum of 500 such underserviced schools in Delhi and NCR region. The year 2023-24 aims at reaching out to all those children whose dreams and needs have been so far ignored and not given enough importance. With your help we aspire to right this gross wrong!
